Российское суеверие: нельзя сидеть на столе
В России нельзя сидеть на столе. Существует множество причин этого суеверия. У древних славян было множество ритуалов и обычаев, которые проходили за столом. Поэтому к столу следовало относиться с уважением. Христиане стали называть стол "ладонью Бога". Поэтому нельзя было держать его грязным и сидеть на нём, чтобы не обидеть Бога. Есть ещё одна версия. Семья часто собирается за столом, чтобы обсудить проблемы. Из-за этого на столе собирается негативная энергия. Если человек садится на стол, то вся негативная энергия перейдёт к нему. Поэтому издавна говорят, что если сидеть на столе, то будет происходить плохое. В настоящее время сложно сказать суеверие это или норма этикета. В любом случае, русские люди придерживаются этой традиции.

Russian superstition: one must not sit on the table
In Russia one must not sit on the table. There are numerous reasons for this superstition. Ancient Slavs had a lot of rituals and customs which happened at the table. Therefore, the table should be treated with respect. Christians called the table "a hand of God." That's why one shouldn't keep it dirty and sit on it, so as not to offend God. There is another version. Family often gather around the table to discuss the issues. Because of that negative energy concentrates on the table. If a person sits on the table, then he will receive all the negative energy. Therefore, there is a saying that if you sit on the table, bad things will happen. Nowadays it is difficult to say whether this is a superstition or etiquette. In any case, the Russian people maintain this tradition.

ロシアではテーブルの上に座ってはいけません。その迷信の理由は数多くあります。古代スラブ人はテーブルで行われた儀式や習慣をたくさんを持っていました。ですから、テーブルは大事にしないといけなかったのです。キリスト教はテーブルを「神の手」と呼びました。だから神を怒らせないようにテーブルに座って,汚してはいけません。家族は様々な問題を議論するためにテーブルの周りに集まります。それで負のエネルギーをテーブルの上に集中します。テーブルの上に座るとその人はすべての負のエネルギーを受け取ります。それだから「テーブルの上に座ると悪いことが起こる」言います。今日ではこれは迷信というか、エチケットというかどうかは断言し難い。いずれにしても、ロシアの人々は、この伝統を守っています。
